Our Story
Southern Cross Finance Limited was founded in 1997 by Barry and Julia Milward. They emigrated to New Zealand from the UK in the early 1960s, travelling on the iconic ship built for the Shaw, Savill & Albion Line called the Southern Cross.
When they launched their new business venture, it seemed only fitting the name referenced the ship that was integral to moving to New Zealand and symbolic of “new opportunities and a new life”.
Fast forward 28 years and as Southern Cross Partners Limited the business is still focused on helping start new opportunities, evolving to become one of the largest property-backed peer-to-peer lenders in New Zealand.
