Founding Director
Southern Cross Partners was founded in 1997 by Barry and Julia Milward. They emigrated to New Zealand from the UK in the early 1960s, travelling on the iconic ship built for the Shaw, Savill & Albion Line called the Southern Cross. When they launched their new business venture, it seemed only fitting the name referenced the ship that was integral to moving to New Zealand and symbolic of “new opportunities and a new life”.
Fast forward nearly 25 years and the business is still focused on helping start new opportunities, and we have evolved to become one of the largest property-backed peer-to-peer lenders in New Zealand.
We’re proud to be a locally owned business, with a tight team of industry experts, who believe in values – like honesty, loyalty, and trust. No impersonal algorithms here. From day one we have put faces to numbers and people at the heart of everything we do, the results speak for themselves.
